GENESEE JR MISS - DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMAN PROGRAM


The Distinguished Young Women Program, formerly known as Genesee Jr. Miss, is this Saturday night at 7PM in the Multi. Come out and support Miranda Carter, Ryelee Schlueter, Jordyn Souders, Lacey Schwarz and Rebecca Eichler. Admission is $10. The theme this year is Summer Nights and promises to be a great program!

Softball Clinic Reminder


**Just a reminder that the registration forms for this Spring's Softball Clinic, sponsored by the Genesee High School Softball Team, are DUE by end of day TODAY. Don't miss this fun local opportunity!! The Clinic is being held at the Genesee Field on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The cost is only $25 and includes a t-shirt. Registrations, printed on lavender paper, went home with students already, but if yours has gone lost additional forms are available in the school office.

LOST and FOUND


The Lost and Found will be disposed of at end of day today. It has been out along the wall outside the High School Office and conveniently displayed at two ball games on a table. PLEASE check it out and claim your items.

1.) Good Luck to the Softball team who will be taking on Troy at Airport Park this afternoon at 4:45 p.m. Good Luck!

2.) Good Luck as well to the Baseball team who will travel to Colton for a game beginning at 4:45. Bus leaves at 3:30.

3.) BASEBALL UPDATES: FRIDAY--Baseball @ CV (Kooskia). 4pm start, bus will leave at 1pm.

4.) SENIORS: Announcement orders have arrived and are available for pick-up in the High School Office. Spring Break is a perfect time to prepare and address these invitations, so please remember to pick up prior to Spring Break.

5.) Secondary Parent/Teacher Conferences: Parent/Teacher Conferencing time has been set aside for this Thursday evening, March 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning, March 25th from 9:00 to noon for all parents of Jr/Sr High School students wanting to check academic progress. Some conferences have already been scheduled, so if you would like to conference with a teacher(s), please call the school office at 285-1162 or email the teachers with whom you would like to conference. *Please note: Progress reports for students in danger of failing a course were mailed last week. Thursday marks mid-semester. Mid-term grades will be updated, and reports will be mailed the week after Spring Break.

1.) Congratulations to the Jr. High Boys Basketball teams who both claimed victory over Potlatch here at home last night! Nice Job!!

2.) The Softball team was not successful in their game against Colton last evening. Tough competition and great play by the Lady Bulldogs!!

3.) BASEBALL UPDATES: THURSDAY--Baseball game will be @ Colton. 4:45 start, bus will leave at 3:30. FRIDAY--Baseball @ CV (Kooskia). 4pm start, bus will leave at 1pm.

4.) There will be a Football meeting TODAY in Mr. Hanson's room for all current 8th through 11th graders interested in football for the 2011 season.

Pre-sold tickets are $10 each, and need to be purchased NO LATER than April 5th (please, keep in mind this is the Tuesday right AFTER Spring Break.) Admission will be $15 each at the door.

The Yearbook has a deadline to meet, and the people working on the Slide Show need time to put it together. *Spring Break should afford you the time to locate and get the pictures you need, so please remember that deadline. Newsletter Deadline

We are accumulating a large number of items in the Lost and Found again. PLEASE check out the items along the wall outside the High School Office and claim those things belonging to you. Take a GOOD look. *THE ITEMS WILL REMAIN THROUGH THE WEEKEND, TO ALLOW PARENTS ATTENDING THE PTO BINGO NIGHT TO CHECK AS WELL.

Please remember BULLDOG BINGO NIGHT being sponsored by the Genesee PTO. The event will be held tomorrow evening, March 19th, featuring a pizza dinner and raffle. The dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the cost is $5 for adults, $3 for kids and a maximum $15 family rate. Bingo begins at 6:15 and bingo cards are $5 each. 1.) Congratulations to the Jr High Girls basketball teams who enjoyed another successful night of basketball last night here at home against Troy! The B team won and the A team fell just short of victory after a really good game!

2.) Congratulations as well to the Softball team who won their game against Highland yesterday in Lewiston!

3.) Good Luck to the Jr. High Boys Basketball teams who will meet Troy on the court here at home beginning at 5:30 p.m. Go Dawgs!!

4.) Good Luck to the Baseball Team who will kick off their season with a tournament being played this afternoon and tomorrow in Asotin. Game time today is 4:30. Good Luck Bulldogs!! **Players may be released at 2:55 today (not before) to load the bus for the game.

5.) SENIORS: Your Senior Portraits for the Yearbook and the Slide Show, as well as any other pictures needed or that you would like to have featured in the Slide Show are DUE - NO LATER THAN APRIL 15TH! There will be no exceptions! The Yearbook has a deadline to meet, and the people working on the Slide Show need time to put it together. *Spring Break should afford you the time to locate and get the pictures you need, so please remember that deadline. ADDITIONALLY, for the yearbook, if it is at all possible, digital format is better. Please send to Mr. Nathan Barham at nbarham@sd282.org. Thank You!

6.) PROM NEWS. The Genesee High School Prom will be held here in the multi purpose room on Saturday, April 16th from 9:00 p.m. to midnight. DJ Steven will be providing the music, and Portraits by Judy Moser will handle photography. Tickets will be pre-sold in order for the decorating committee to adequately plan. Pre-sold tickets are $10 each, and need to be purchased NO LATER than April 5th (please, keep in mind this is the Tuesday right AFTER Spring Break.) Admission will be $15 each at the door.

Poster Contest Winner


Congratulations to Cameron Barton who won the Genesee TAR WARS poster contest. Cameron's poster was sent to Boise where it will be hung in the Idaho State Capitol Building and judged in the state contest. Good luck Cameron!

Booster Clothing


The deadline for the Spring Clothing order from the Booster Club is TODAY, March 11. The clothing available is softball and baseball clothing and is not limited to athletes, but for parents and community as well. If you would like to order please contact Sheri Cornell at 208-310-1438.

Fishing Rod Building Class


A Fishing Rod building workshop will take place this weekend at Genesee High School. There are still 2 spots open. Contact JR Morrow at 285-1162 for more information.

Elementary Softball Clinic


The Genesee Girls Softball Team will be hosting a Softball Clinic for all girls in grades 1 through 6 on April 9th. The clinic will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run until noon. The cost is $25 each and includes a t-shirt. *There was a misprint in the school newsletter. The correct date is April 9th. Additional information will be sent home with students this week. Booster Clothing

JR/SR High School News


1.) BASEBALL PLAYERS: *If you have not already done so, and there has been some confusion about this, PLEASE GET YOUR PAPERWORK TURNED IN TO THE OFFICE. Your first game is next week, and ALL paperwork needs to be turned in by end of day tomorrow - NO exceptions. Thanks for your help.

2.) Club Volleyball Practices: U16/Quint will practice in the auxiliary gym from 6-8 p.m. They will be joined by U18/Becker at 7 p.m. and U18 practice will last until 9. See you there!!

3.) Latah County 4-H and FFA beef weigh in will be March 26th in the Monson Barn at U-I. We will weigh beginning at 7 AM – 9AM. Please bring bill of sale or brand slip with them as we will have a brand inspector to transfer ownership if needed.

4.) Parents of Seniors: All seniors have been given information about applying for local scholarship awarded at graduation. 5.) Any 9-11 grade students interested in making $ for talking? Latah county speech contest 3 to 5 minutes can make you $400. If interested please see Mr. Morrow this week.

6.) Attendance Information: Students and parents, please keep in mind that you may only accrue 8 absences in a semester (for each class period) before loss of credit becomes an issue. If you are absent for appointments or illness for which you see a physician, please remember to bring verification from the Dr's offices. If you do reach 8 absences in a class and the absences are medically verified, the attendance committee will take that into consideration before making a recommendation for loss of credit. Additionally, when at all possible, recurring appointments should be scheduled so as not to fall over the same class period(s) each time. This practice is best as the 8 absence rule applies to each class period. Finally, for athletes, in order to participate in games or practices, you must be in attendance 4 out 7 class periods. Hope this helps to clear up some recurring questions about attendance.

Voting Day!


*Just a reminder that today is voting day for the Genesee School District supplemental levy. Nezperce County residents were mailed ballots that need to be returned to the Nezperce County Auditors Ofice in Lewiston before close of day today. LATAH COUNTY voters can vote anytime between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Genesee Senior Center.

Geographic Bee Update


Congratulations Anna Sobczyk!!Anna won the Genesee School Geographic Bee on Jan 6th, and has qualified to represent Genesee School and participate at the state level on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Boise State University. Anna had to take a written test after the School Bee . The written test was submitted at the State Level to see if she would be one of the top 100 students in Idaho to compete at the state level. She was! Congratulations Anna!!

Geographic Bee Update


Congratulations Anna Sobczyk!!Anna won the Genesee School Geographic Bee on Jan 6th, and has qualified to represent Genesee School and participate at the state level on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Boise State University. Anna had to take a written test after the School Bee . The written test was submitted at the State Level to see if she would be one of the top 100 students in Idaho to compete at the state level. She was! Congratulations Anna!!

Readers as Leaders Winners


Congratulation to Genesee "Readers are Leaders" Winners. Truman Renton was chosen for a Gold Award and will receive a $50 Book Gift Certificate and Jake DeMeerler was chosen for a Silver Award and will receive a $25 Book Certificate.

3.) Driver's Education: Students, time is running out . . . Friday is the last day to sign-up for Driver's Education. *Please keep in mind, we do not have school on Friday.

5.) American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Applications are DUE on Monday, March 7th. This is a wonderful opportunity and we hope you don't miss out on your chance for memorable life experience! Please turn applications in to the High School Office, they will be picked up on Monday afternoon.

Automated Notification System


Just a reminder: If you have had a change to your contact information, phone numbers or email address, please make sure to let the office staff know so files can be updated. The automated notification system, used over the past few days for delays and school/event closures and cancelations, had several phone numbers that failed, as well as email addresses that were incorrect. Automated Notification System


Just a reminder: If you have had a change to your contact information, phone numbers or email address, please make sure to let the office staff know so files can be updated. The automated notification system, used this morning for the school closure, had several phone numbers that failed. An email notification was also sent out yesterday regarding the 2 hour delay, and there were email addresses that also failed. The system is only as good as the information we have available to us to contact you. Thank you for your help.

JR/SR High School News


1.) There will be a send off in the Main Gym here at school on Wednesday, March 2, at 9:45 a.m. for the Boys Basketball Team as they leave for the State Tournament. Good Luck Bulldogs!

2.) Students: You may now sign-up for Driver's Education at the High School Office with either Shannon or Becky. Sign-up will last through Friday, March 4th. To sign-up, you will need to submit your full legal name, age and date of birth.

3.) Club Volleyball U16 will have practice this evening from 7-9 p.m. in the main gym.

4.) Jr High and High School sports practices will be arranged by coaches for today and you will be notified. These practices are NOT mandatory. Attendance is dependent on your safe ability to get here.
