For Your Planning Purposes

This FRIDAY, June 3rd, will be the last day of classes at Genesee Schools for the 2010-11 school year. Classes will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. and buses will run regular routes at that time. Elementary report cards will be sent home with students on the last day of school. Secondary report cards will be mailed upon completion of the grading of finals. *PLEASE NOTE: For ALL students K-12, report cards will NOT be sent if the student has outstanding fees. Please make sure students have returned all library materials (or have paid for missing), all lunch accounts have been satisfied, all sports equipment and uniforms returned and all class fees paid.

Elementary Awards Assembly

There will be an Elementary Awards Assembly held on the Last Day of School, June 3rd, at 8:30 a.m. in the Main Gym. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Hope to see you there!

SUMMER FOOD BANK DRIVE

"Camp Food-for-All" - Please join the elementary end-of-year camping celebration by filling a tent with food for the Genesee Food Bank! A tent will be set up until the end of the year, and we will be trying to help stock the food bank for the summer. Donations are needed year-round - but especially during the summer. Please help by bringing a canned or boxed item to school before the end of the year. All donations are gratefully accepted - thank you for your generous support of those in need.

Just a reminder from the PTO, the LAST DAY to turn in Boxtops for the Spring Collection is TODAY, May 31st. The big winner will be announced at the assembly on June 3rd!!

COMMUNITY DAY EVENTS

The GENESEE JAM 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will once again be part of Community Day Activities on Saturday, June 11th on main street here in Genesee. Games will begin at 1:00 p.m. *Check in and registration will immediately follow the parade. Entry fee is $45.00 and is due BEFORE June 4th. (Late entry is $50). Registration forms are available in the school office. For further information, please contact Mr. Peter Crowley at 285-1162 or 208-301-1789. Don't miss out on this fun way to spend the afternoon! Even if you're not playing - stop by to watch and cheer on your favorite teams!

Registration forms are also in the School Office and early registrations are due by June 1st(TOMORROW). This is a family fun run or walk and a great way to begin the day! Your registration fee can include a commemorative t-shirt if you wish. There are two and five mile courses with aid stations. Check in and late registration begins at 7:30 a.m. under the bank awning downtown. Race begins at 8:30. Hope to see you there!

Registration forms have been sent home with elementary students. Forms are available at the High School Office Window for Jr./Sr. High Students. Very reasonably priced packets for professional group photos and/or photo of you receiving your diploma. Packets can be picked up at the High School Office window and should be returned here to school when you check out. This will allow Judy to better prepare for those of you who want individual pictures. Thank you!

2.) SENIORS and PARENTS: *If you have someone in your family who will be attending graduation who needs special seating due to a physical limitation (i.e. wheelchair bound, walker or crutches, unable to take stairs, etc.) please contact the High School Office. Although we do NOT do reserved seating for entire families, we do like to accommodate those with concerns, so please make us aware. Thank you!

SENIOR GRAD NIGHT INFO: Seniors you need to meet the bus for your Safe and Sober Grad Night Party promptly at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. *Please keep in mind that ALL bags, purses, jackets, etc. will be checked for compliance with the guidelines given to you in the contract you signed in order to participate in this event. No electronic equipment for this evening either - cell phones, IPods, etc. If brought, they will be taken and given back to you Sunday morning.

SCARED STIFF

The Genesee High School Drama Production of "Scared Stiff" will be presented on two evenings this week. Tuesday, May 24th and Wednesday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. each evening. The performance is open and FREE to the public. Please plan to attend.

1.) Congratulations to the Baseball Team who placed 2nd at the State Baseball Tournament over the weekend! We are proud of our Bulldogs!

2.) Congratulations as well to the Softball team who also captured a 2nd place finish at the State Softball Tournament played in Lewiston! Way to finish the season strong and make us proud ladies!!

3.) Finally - Congratulations to Reggie Tilleman, who threw a personal best in the shot put at the State Track Meet, throwing 42'5", putting him in medals with a 4th place finish!! Nice Job!!

4.) The following Seniors need to turn a wallet sized photo for the Wallboard display in the hallway and pick up their caps-n-gowns. We need your photos by end of day on Wednesday or you will not be pictured on the Wallboard display. Morgan, Lacey, Justin, Madeline and Jake.

Very reasonably priced packets for professional group photos and/or photo of you receiving your diploma. The 4-6 Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at 7 p.m. also in the Main Gym.

GENESEE SCHOOL LIBRARY

The Genesee School Library will close to all new check-outs on Friday, May 20th. This will allow time for all items to be returned, checked back in and returned to inventory.
**Students: Please remember, Grade reports will be held until all items belonging to the school have been returned or paid for. i.e. Library books, text books, equipment (classroom or sports), lunch accounts made current, etc.

Calling all Kindergartners and Pre-schoolers for 2011-2012

If you are new to the district, OR have your first child entering the public school system for the 2011-2012 school year, please remember to come to the school to register your child for fall classes if you did not do so during Child Find/Kindergarten Registration in April. *We want to adequately pre-pare for all incoming students, and spring registration is the best way to do that.

In order to register, we need to have parents fill out a registration form, available either in the school office or at this website. We will also need to make a copy of your child's immunization record and state issued birth certificate (the birth certificate from the hospital with the little footprints on it, is NOT the legal birth certificate). 1.) Congratulations to both the Baseball and Softball teams who came out of District Tournament Action having earned a second seed position into the State Tournaments. The Baseball tournament will be played in Caldwell on Friday and Saturday. Softball will be played in Lewiston also on Friday and Saturday. Details for both tournaments to follow. Nice job Bulldogs!!

2.) Congratulations to the track team who brought their season to a close at the Regional Track Meet held at Kootenai over the weekend. Good work Bulldogs! Our congratulations to Reggie Tilleman who qualified for State in the shot put.

3.) REMINDER: Wednesday evening, May 18th, there will be a 4 year planning meeting for ALL eighth graders and their parents. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. This is required for all students entering High School in the fall. See you there.

Calling All Runners/Walkers

May is National Foster Care Month, and to help raise funds for our local foster kids, there will be a Fun Run/Walk held at the Moscow High Track from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th. Suggested donations are $5 for singles, $7 for couple and $10 for families. Every lap you complete you will receive a raffle ticket for some really great prizes!! Please consider beginning your day with this great event!!

LET'S GET ACTIVE - School Fun Run

To help make parents and the community aware: On Friday, May 6th, there will be a school wide fitness fun run for Genesee School. This will incorporate students in grades 1-12 and will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday afternoon. Older students will be partnered with younger students as running or walking buddies. All students will be involved in some measure, as participants, buddies, timers, water station attendants or finish line help. *The 2 mile and 5K routes will both begin and end at the football field, but will encompass Krier, Morscheck and Becker roads. Please be aware of the runners on the road and, if you see little runners, cheer them on!! *This is student driven, fun, fitness activity and great warm up for all those wanting to participate in the Cow Creek Run coming up for Community Day on June 11th.

Calling All Runners/Walkers

May is National Foster Care Month, and to help raise funds for our local foster kids, there will be a Fun Run/Walk held at the Moscow High Track from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th. Suggested donations are $5 for singles, $7 for couple and $10 for families. Every lap you complete you will receive a raffle ticket for some really great prizes!! Please consider beginning your day with this great event!!

LET'S GET ACTIVE - School Fun Run

To help make parents and the community aware: On Friday, May 6th, there will be a school wide fitness fun run for Genesee School. This will incorporate students in grades 1-12 and will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday afternoon. Older students will be partnered with younger students as running or walking buddies. All students will be involved in some measure, as participants, buddies, timers, water station attendants or finish line help. *The 2 mile and 5K routes will both begin and end at the football field, but will encompass Krier, Morscheck and Becker roads. Please be aware of the runners on the road and, if you see little runners, cheer them on!! *This is student driven, fun, fitness activity and great warm up for all those wanting to participate in the Cow Creek Run coming up for Community Day on June 11th.

JR/SR High School News

1.) Neither the Softball team or the JV Baseball team were successful over their respective opponents of Prairie and Potlatch in games played away yesterday afternoon. But stay tuned, the Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow as the season continues!

2.) The Jr. High Boys Basketball teams will have their end-of-season dessert banquet tonight, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Commons. 7th graders plan to bring a dessert and 8th graders bring ice cream. See you there!

COW CREEK RUN

The 30th Annual Cow Creek Run will be held in conjunction with Genesee Community Day on Saturday, June 11th at 8:30 in the morning. Registration forms are available at City Hall and in the High School Office. There are 2 and 5 mile courses that you can choose to run or walk. It's a great way to kick off Community Day and is open to ALL ages, so join in the fun!! Registrations are due by June 1st for Early Registration. Late registrations will be accepted beginning at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the race. Early Registrations including commemorative t-shirts are $12 ($15 for late registers). Early registrations not including t-shirt are $5 ($6 for late registers). *A copy of the registration form is posted on the bulletin board outside the High School Office for additional information, or you can contact Kathy Zenner, Cow Creek Run Race Coordinator.

1.) Both the Baseball and Softball games were suspended yesterday due to inclement weather conditions. Both games will be resume once times and fields have been confirmed. Details to be announced.

2.) Good Luck to the JV Baseball team who will travel to Potlatch today for a game beginning at 4:45 p.m. *Athletes to be dismissed at 3:05 p.m.
