Friday Night Fun!


Looking for something fun to do Friday night? Fun for singles, couples or entire families!! Barely Gifted and 2K Down, two of your local bands, will be playing for a fundraiser for Genesee Business Professionals of America. The bands will be rocking the stage at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 30th in the Multi Purpose room of the school! Tickets are $5 pre-sold or $7 at the door. Contact Geoffrey Leediker or Brandan Nelson for pre-sold tickets. So come support your local bands and enjoy some fun music. Can't wait to see you there! Snacks and beverages will be provided!

Donkey Basketball is this Saturday with Dinner starting at 5 pm and the Games starting at 6. Advance tickets are $1 cheaper than the Door price and can be purchased from JR Morrow or a Genesee FFA Officer. Advance tickets are $4 for K-6, $5 for 7-12, and $6 for adults. At the door $1/ticket more than advance purchase. *A family pass for admission can also be purchased for $20 and admits 2 adults and 2 children. Dinner is a sausage and baked potato bar for $5/person. It'll be a fun evening so come on out and enjoy!!

Art News


Congratulations to artists Tallah Revord and Chyanne Carich. They both received Honorable Mention Awards for their art work which was displayed in a juried art show held at the University of Idaho. The 19th Annual High School Art Exhibition called "Previously Enjoyed" was held at the University of Idaho's Ridenbaugh Art Gallery during February and March. This show featured work created from recycled materials.

1.) Congratulations to the Baseball team who claimed dual victories over Troy last night in double header action played at Clearwater Park in Lewiston. Nice Job!

2.) Good Luck to the Baseball Team who is scheduled to meet Potlatch on the field here at home tomorrow beginning at 11:00 a.m. *The condition of our field for hosting this game is yet to be determined and subject to change should we get more rain. We will keep you posted as the day progresses. Sorry for the inconvenience.

3.) Good Luck as well to the Softball team who will meet Kamiah tomorrow for a double header at Airport Park in Lewiston. Games begin at 11:00 a.m. Go Dawgs!!

4.) OK - ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY for a really fun activity!! Genesee Club is sponsoring a Dad's Bowling Day for all members and their dads, as well as all Senior Class members and their dads. Last year's event was a blast and we're hoping to include more participants this year!! Bowling Day is this Sunday, May 2nd. We will leave the school at 1:30, but you must sign-up if you plan to attend - ***Please do so by lunch time TODAY.

5.) SENIORS: INFO SHEETS for the graduation program insert are DUE TODAY, April 30th. As explained to you when they were handed out, the insert is totally optional for the program, and although nice for family, it is not required. You do not have to submit the information. You simply won't be listed in the insert. The office staff will not track you down to make sure your information gets turned in. We need 60% of you or more to submit, or we will choose not to have an insert. Thank you.

Elementary Highlights


Congratulations to 6th grader Kaleb Cox whose Farm Safety poster qualified for state competition earlier this week. The Moscow Grange sponsored the contest and many of Genesee's 6th graders received some nice prizes. Kaleb also won a nice prize and a gift certificate. Good luck Kaleb!

*Also, if you haven't yet gone online to vote for Anna Sobczyk's poster at the national level, and you wish to do so, you have until May 5th. The online address is http://poster-contest.strutta.com/ . Anna's poster is # 9.

1.) The Baseball game against Kamiah (non-league)scheduled to be played here at home today has been canceled - our field is not playable due to the weather. A double header against Troy (league)is scheduled for make-up today at Clearwater Park in Lewiston beginning at 4:45 p.m., with bus departure at 3:25 p.m.

2.) Due to insufficient number of players, the Lapwai softball team has reluctantly had to cancel the remainder of their season. The Sofball game against Lapwai scheduled for today has been canceled.

3.) Genesee Club is hosting Dad's Bowling Day at Zeppos in Pullman on Sunday, May 2nd. We will be leaving the school at 1:30 p.m. All Club Members and their dad's are invited to attend. We would also like to extend an invitation to all SENIORS and their fathers as well.

*SIGN-UP: If you plan to attend Dad's Bowling Day, please sign-up at the high school office window by April 29th. We have to have an accurate number in order to arrange transportation. Thank you!

Genesee School Library


The Genesee School Library will close for all new check-outs and to conduct inventory on May 21st. PLEASE return all materials and books you may have out prior to that time. Some students have items out that were checked out prior to holidays, perhaps you have forgotten those items. Please check with Mrs. Marone to see if you owe anything to the library. Remember, your check-out process for summer will be delayed until those items have been returned or have been paid for. **NOTE, if you have passed a book off to another student, the person who originally checked the book out is responsible for it's return. Now is the time to tidy up your library account. Thank you!

LCSC offers low cost dental cleaning and radiographs at$40 for adults, $30 for senior citizens and $20 for children! Appointment includes instruction on dental care, new tooth brush, x-ray and fluoride treatment along with an exam by a dentist. Cash or check only, they do NOT bill insurance companies. Call 208-792-2930 for your appt. Available dates and times are: May 6th, 11th, 18th and 25th at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. Dates fill fast so call now!

FREE Family Entertainment!!


This Saturday the Washington Idaho Symphony is performing two free family concerts. They will feature a new piece of music by Daniel Bukvich (he brings the University of Idaho Jazz Choir to Genesee each Spring) and will be an interactive audience experience. The performances will be in the Lewiston High School Auditorium in Lewiston, ID at 1:00pm and the Domey (Gladish) Auditorium in Pullman, WA at 4:00pm on Saturday, April 24th.

Dental Hygiene Program


LCSC offers low cost dental cleaning and radiographs at$40 for adults, $30 for senior citizens and $20 for children! Appointment includes instruction on dental care, new tooth brush, x-ray and fluoride treatment along with an exam by a dentist. Cash or check only, they do NOT bill insurance companies. Call 208-792-2930 for your appt. Available dates and times are: May 6th, 11th, 18th and 25th at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. Dates fill fast so call now!

Feed My Starving Children


The total amount raised by the team of WSU students for the Feed My Starving Children Program was $3,228.91 which comes out to 16,990 meals! My team and I would like to send our greatest thanks for all of the generous donations that you all made to help support this great cause and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves! - Andie Wommack

6-8 grade softball players have practice right after school on Monday.

1.) Good Luck to the Softball team who will be traveling to Prairie this afternoon for a make-up game from yesterday. Game time is 4:45 p.m. and the bus leaves at 2:30 p.m. *Athletes must report to their 6th hour class for attendance and assignments. Players may be released at 2:20.

2.) Good Luck as well to the softball ladies as they travel again tomorrow to Potlatch for a game beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bus leaves at 8:30 a.m.

3.) Good Luck to the Baseball team who is also on the road tomorrow. They will travel to Prairie for a game beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bus time is 8:15 a.m.

4.) UH-HMM!! Genesee Club is hosting Dad's Bowling Day at Zeppos in Pullman on Sunday, May 2nd. We will be leaving the school at 1:30 p.m. All Club Members and their dad's are invited to attend. We would also like to extend an invitation to all SENIORS and their fathers as well.

Genesee's Jr. Miss Program


Congratulations to all of our Junior Girls who competed in the Jr. Miss Program Saturday night! Really nice program! Congrats to Lacey Funke who claimed the Spirit of Jr. Miss Award, to Tauna Tyler who won the Scholastic Award, to Rachel Krick who won the Be Your Best Self Award, April Broemeling who claimed the Fitness, Interview and Self Expression Awards, and to Tallah Revord who won the Talent award. Finally, our congratulations to April Broemeling who was named first runner up, and to Tallah Revord who is Genesee's new Jr. Miss 2011.

Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the girls and for supporting this worthwhile scholarship program!

Palouse 100K


Congratulations to the Genesee School Staff team who participated in and completed the WSU Palouse 100K relay race over the weekend. Special thanks to team captain Casi Allington, for leadership, organizing the group and agreeing to run the most grueling leg of the race! You are a hero!

Genesee's Jr. Miss Program


Genesee's Jr. Miss Competition will be held Saturday evening, April 17th beginning at 7:00 p.m. You won't want to miss this year's program and see who will be Genesee's Jr. Miss 2011. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students 12 and under. Participants are Lacey Funke, Tauna Tyler, Tallah Revord, April Broemeling and Rachel Krick. Good Luck Ladies.

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN PROJECT


Friday will be the last day for loose change donations to the Feed My Starving Children Project. Thank you to everyone who has donated to this worthwhile project to help feed hungry children throughout the world. If you would still like to donate, there is a donation jar in the High School Office, but please bring all donations by end of day Friday. Thank you!

SHADE FOUNDATION POSTER CONTEST


Anna Sobczyk, was chosen as the state finalist in this year's SunWise with SHADE Poster contest. The SHADE Foundation will be sending several prizes to our school for Anna and for the classroom. Her poster will be displayed online starting this Friday until May 5 for the nationwide online voting. The winner, determined by the number of votes, will receive a family trip to Disney World, and the school will receive a WeatherBug Weather Tracking Station. The posters will be displayed at www.shadefoundation.org. Congratulations Anna!!

SAFE and SOBER GRADUATION RAFFLE WINNERS

1.) Congratulations to the JV Baseball Team who claimed victory over Colton in a game played at Colton last night. Nice job!

2.) Congratulations to the Softball team who also won BIG over Timberline in action played at Airport Park last night. Way to go!

3.) Good Luck to the Softball Team who will meet Lewis County on the field at Airport Park tomorrow morning at 11:00 to play a double header! Go Bulldogs!!

4.) Good Luck as well to the Baseball team who will be playing although we've had a change to the schedule. **PLEASE NOTE: The game originally scheduled to be played against Timberline has been canceled and reschedule is yet to be determined. A make-up game for the weather cancelation against Potlatch has now been schedule in it's place. The Baseball team will depart tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. for Potlatch where they will meet the Loggers for a game beginning at 11:00. Go Dawgs!

5.) Scheduling Note: The softball game against Lewiston JV orginally scheduled for March 26th, has been rescheduled and will now be played on Monday, April 19th at 4:45 p.m. at Airport Park.

8.) SENIORS: Local Scholarship applications are due in to Mr. Scripter by no later than 3:30 pm TODAY. Mr. Scripter will be unavailable from 8:30-10:30 while he is administering an ISAT test. Please call his office at extension 243 to verify he is there and available to take your applications before going to his office, and please do not come to turn in applications in groups larger than two people at a time.

9.) PROM is next Saturday, April 24th. The Out of Town Guest Sign-up has been posted at the high school window. ALL guests MUST be signed-up by lunch time on Thursday, April 22nd. Rachel, Mallory, and Mike all received their State FFA Degree. Great job!!

GRADE REPORTS


Jr/Sr High Grade Reports for 3rd quarter were sent home with students yesterday. Please expect to see them and remember to ask your student for his or her grade report. *You may also access 3rd quarter grades through the Parent Portal of the Websis/Lumen application on line.

Elementary Grade Reports are being sent home with students TODAY.

Spring Break


Spring Break for Genesee Schools is next week, April 5th through the 9th. Classes will dismiss at the regular time of 3:15 on Friday, April 2nd, and classes will resume on Monday morning, April 12th at 8:25 a.m. We hope everyone has a safe, fun and relaxing break!

Genesee Easter Egg Hunt


The Civic Association is once again sponsoring their annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Egg Hunt is for all children ages 0-10 years of age. It will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the city park below the school. Don't miss it!

JR/SR High School News


1.) Congratulations to the Softball team who claimed victory over Potlatch in a game played in Lewiston last evening. Nice Job!!

2.) FFA Members please bring all raffle tickets to Mr. Morrow by this Friday. The drawing for prizes will be Monday April 5th. This will be over spring break so you need to bring the tickets in by THIS FRIDAY. *Floriculture and horse judging this week at lunch in the ag shop, bring your lunch with you. Ag Sales Practice event will be Monday April 5th at 7 pm.

3.) Jr. High Students: Shotgun Sports/Clay Target Shooting opportunity. The Genesee Sportsmens Association & Genesee Recreation District are sponsoring a 3 hour class to familiarize & instruct students in clay target sports. The event is FREE to Jr. High Students who attend Genesee School District. Everything will be provided, including shotguns. You only need to bring your desire to learn. *A parent or guardian does need to attend with the student. The event will take place on Saturday, April 10th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the GHS Football Field. Space is limited to 16 students, and the sign-up deadline is Thursday, April 8th. To sign-up or for addition information please call Jay Roach at 285-1636.

4.) FOUND: Art pencil. Please come to the high school office to identify and claim.

5.) GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS. There was a problem at the printing plant for Herff Jones, so graduation announcements have been delayed in their arrival. The announcements should ship late next week and arrive by mid-week the week after Spring Break. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Computers for Kids


This is the last week to make application for the Computers for Kids program. Only 200 applications have been received, and 450 computers remain available for kids in our area! Applications are available at the school office or on line.

There are only 36 school days remaining for seniors, and only 32 before the slide show needs to be finished! If you have photos you want featured in the slide show, they HAVE to be turned in now.
