School Is Out For Summer!

Genesee School has dismissed for summer break. School will resume for the 2010-2011 school year on August 31st, 2010. The School Office closed on June 18th. The District Office (other than vacation leave) is open through out the summer.

*Secondary Students: If you were unable to complete the check-out process on the last day of school, you need to remember that any items or charges owed will be due prior to final registration in August. Mr. Caldwell and Mrs. Schacher will be in the High School Office for one day on July 12th, and will not be returning until August 16th after that.

NEW SCHOOL CALENDAR AND ATTENDANCE TIMES

PLEASE REMEMBER, THERE HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO THE SCHOOL CALENDAR AND START AND END TIMES FOR THE SCHOOL DAY, FOR THE 2010-11 SCHOOL YEAR. **Please access and review the calendar available from the homepage of the district website. School resumes on August 31st at 8:00 a.m. (not 8:25). Elementary students will be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. daily and secondary students at 3:20. There are NO EARLY RELEASE DAYS in next year's calendar. There are however a number of professional days for which there will be no attendance for students. *Thank you in advance for taking time to review the calendar and make preparations in advance!

JR/SR High School News

1.) The school office staff is gone for summer and will not return until August 16th.

2.) Final registration for fall classes will be held on August 24th and 25th. High School students will register on the 24th in the following order Srs, Jrs, Sophs and Freshman - exact times TBA. Jr. High will register on the 25th in the morning, again, times TBA. STUDENTS who are new to the district and have NOT completed enrollment or pre-registration forms, will register the afternoon of the 25th.

3.) For your convenience, all classes selected by students at spring pre-registration have been scheduled - based on availability. Your class schedules for fall are now viewable in the student portal through Lumen. Some courses have been changed to accommodate changes in the Master Schedule. If you are currently without a class for a particular period and/or semester, you can discuss your options with Mr. Scripter at final registration.

4.) Please remember, if you are unable to attend registration day, NO EARLY REGISTRATIONS will be granted. You may register during New Student registration on the 25th, or you can call for an appointment at 285-1162.

5.) SENIORS: Shortly after the school year begins, usually in October, the representative from the company who prints our diplomas will be here to discuss graduation orders for caps and gowns, and announcements. *When this order is placed, usually just before Thanksgiving, is when the diploma order is also submitted, with your name as it will appear on your diploma. This name is an exact match to what is on your birth certificate, which we have on file in the office. IF you are planning to make a legal change to your name (i.e. spelling of first name, middle name, dropping a name, adding a last name, etc.), you will need to have the paperwork complete and turned in to the office PRIOR to the diploma order being submitted, otherwise your diploma will be printed to match your current legal birth certificate.

School Is Out For Summer!

Genesee School has dismissed for summer break. School will resume for the 2010-2011 school year on August 31st, 2010. The School Office will be open through June 18th. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. The district office (other than vacation leave) is open through out the summer.

*Secondary Students: If you were unable to complete the check-out process on the last day of school, you do need to complete that process before June 18th. Until completed, your registration for next year will not be processed. Please remember if the failure to complete check-out was for fines or fees owed, you will be required to satisfy those fees before you can begin classes in the fall.

*Elementary Students: If you did not receive your report card on the last day of school, it is because you owe fees (library, lunch, etc.) Your grade report will be released to your parents once those fees have been paid.

*FINALLY - LOST and FOUND: There are still a number of items in the hallway outside the High School Office in the Lost and Found. Those items will be retained until end of day on Wednesday, June 9th. After that they will be disposed of.

NOW IS THE TIME to make sure you have turned in all uniforms, books, equipment, etc. and have paid all fees or fines your owe. Don't leave everything to the last minute. *The office is the last signature you will secure - EVERY OTHER SECTION of the check out form must be signed and completed before you come to the office for final check out. If you are missing any portion, you will be sent to the end of the line.

Hall Locker locks are turned in at final check-out, NOT before. Hang on to them or have $10 ready if you do not have yours. (You must turn in the specific lock that was issued to you.)

2.) Band People: Please bring your $3 to Ryelee by TODAY. Thanks!

NO SCHOOL MONDAY

There will be no school on Monday, May 31st for Memorial Day. Please remember to honor those who have served in our military, and their families, who have paid the ultimate price for the freedom we enjoy. Have a safe and fun, long weekend. Classes resume on Tuesday morning, June 1st at 8:25 a.m.

Civic Association/Community Day News

The Genesee Civic Association is finalizing the schedule of events for this years Community Day. Any interested group, organization or person that would like to hold a fundraising event and would like to be on the poster needs to let us know by Monday night, May 24th. We have ideas if any are needed. Please email Cathleen Blevins at cblevins@moscow.com or call 208-596-9102.

We would also like to let everyone know that Civic now has a web site with our associations information and Community Day registrations. You may visit the site at www.geneseecivicassoc.org. The site is still in progress but more information is being added all the time. We also have a Facebook page that anyone can access with questions that will be answered daily.

***COW CREEK RUN registrations are available at the Civic Assc. Website listed above. A few copies are available in the High School Office. Early registrations are due by June 1st (Tuesday, following the long weekend.)

KISS THE PIG

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Kiss the Pig contest and for raising the necessary funds to ship the books to Morocco! Congratulations to Miss Allington who was voted your favorite Pig Kisser! Interview with Miss Allington this morning finds that she does not have Swine Flu, nor has she become fluent in Pig Latin. However, she does claim to have dined on bacon for dinner last night! Reportedly, the little pig has recovered from his attack of stage fright brought on by this public display of affection in front of an entire audience. The curl is back in his tail and he is happy to be back home! Thank you to Mr. Caldwell for emceeing the event, to Mr. Morrow and several of the Ag students for providing and coaching the pig, and to all of the Pig Kissing Participants - you are all good sports for a good cause!

Any interested group, organization or person that would like to hold a fundraising event and would like to be on the poster needs to let us know by Monday night, May 24th. The Color Groups "Kiss the Pig" contest featuring our New High School Principal and our departing members of staff is well under way. Donations continue until 2:30 TODAY. The staff member with the most donations will Kiss a Pig in front of the student body at the assembly. The donations will help to pay for shipping the books for the Morocco Book Project.

As of this morning . . . over $100 has been collected for shipping! The totals are very, VERY close and all participants are contenders to be the lucky Pig Kisser! It's down to the wire, but votes will be accepted even at the door of the assembly and the final tally will be counted at that time! Oh the suspense!!! Keep those donations/votes coming!!!

On Wednesday fifth and sixth period classes will be shortened to allow time at the end of the day for the announcement of “Kiss the Pig” winner, an ice cream social and final color team meeting. Fifth period will be 1:10-1:40; sixth period 1:45-2:15. Students will then meet in the main gym for the end-of-day activity. The color team who sits together in the gym and has the highest percentage of members wearing tee-shirts will go through the ice cream line first. Be sure to contribute to the faculty member you would most like to see “Kiss the Pig.” *Remember all donation will provide shipping for the Moroccan Book Project!

1.) Parents and Student Athletes: Genesee is pleased to begin providing Impact Concussion baseline testing on Wednesday, May 26th and Wednesday, June 2nd from 4 to 8pm. This testing will be available to all Junior High and High School athletes on these dates or by appointment. Students will need a signed permission form and a completed medical history form to be tested. Forms are available at the high school office. Please contact Becky Pickard for more information, this is a valuable tool and we would love to see at least all football players tested!

The staff member with the most donations will Kiss a Pig in front of the student body at an assembly on Wednesday. The donations will help to pay for shipping the books for the Morocco Book Project. 1.) Good Luck to the Genesee High School Softball team who will depart today for the State Softball Tournament! The Bulldogs will play their first game against Greenleaf at 11:00 a.m. MST tomorrow. There will be a send off for the team on the front lawn at 9:30 this morning. Staff, students and community members welcome!

30th Anniversary of Mt. Saint Helens

Today is the 30th Anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helen's. Do you remember where you were? Students, have your parents told you stories of where they were? Ask your teachers if they remember? Many of them were students like you and had the rest of their school year canceled because of the drifting ash. Oh yeah! Mr. Morrow had a birthday that day and got a new bike, which he didn't get to ride, again because of the ash! Happy Birthday Mr. Morrow!!

1.) Congratulations to the Baseball team who won their game Friday as they began District Tournament action! The winning streak did not continue for the Bulldogs on Saturday however and they brought their season to a close. We are proud of our Bulldog Baseball Team!

2.) Congratulations to Justin Pickard who ran a strong 1600 meter at regional Track in Kamiah on Saturday. It was HOT in Kamiah and Justin ran strong but did not qualify for state competition.

3.) Congratulations to the Softball Team who won their game on Friday and continued districts with one win and one loss on Saturday to finish the season second in the league. The Lady Bulldogs will now travel to State competition!! Nice job Bulldogs!

Little Bulldog Volleyball Camp

A two day volleyball camp will be held June 7-8 from 8am-noon in the school gyms. This camp will be for any students entering 4th-9th grades next school year. Sign up by May 21. Registration forms are available from Mr. Crowley

1.) There will be a Four Year Plan Workshop for 8th graders and their parents here at the school THIS EVENING, Wednesday, May 12th. The workshop will run from 7-8 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. 1.) The Baseball team met Potlatch on the field here at home last night but fell short of capturing victory.
