*Please complete separate order packets for EACH child in your home and include payment. This is the best way to insure your order is handled properly. Additionally, correct change, or check for the amount of purchase needs to be handled at home. The office is not equipped to make change for 300 picture packets and we will not cash checks.

BIRTHDAY WISHES

Happy 12th Birthday to Kyle Moser!!

Attendance Reminder

Just a reminder: With the shortened number of attendance days for this school year, there is also a reduction in the number of absences a student may accrue. Elementary students may miss a total of 16 absences in the school year (it was 18 prior). Secondary students can miss only 8 days a semester before credit "may" be denied. Only the school board can deny credit for excessive absences. Students will come up for review by the attendance committee once 8 absences have accrued, and prior to any recommendation to the board. *Parents please keep in mind that if your student is absent for injury or illness due to a doctor's order, providing that information to the office is very important for attendance review. ALL absences count (other than school approved field trip). But should your child come before the attendance committee, medical documentation can help support the need for excessive absences, and thus keep a student from credit denial.

Bulletin - 8/16/10

Bulletin last updated 8/16/10, 11:00 AM

BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!

Genesee School has been dismissed for summer break, but we are rapidly approaching the return to school for the 2010-2011 school year! Classes will resume on August 31st, 2010. We hope everyone has had a fun filled and restful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone upon the return to school.

PLEASE REMEMBER, THERE HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO THE SCHOOL CALENDAR, AND START AND END TIMES FOR THE SCHOOL DAY, FOR THE 2010-11 SCHOOL YEAR. **Please access and review the calendar available from the homepage of the district website. School resumes on August 31st at 8:00 a.m. (not 8:25). Elementary students will be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. daily and secondary students at 3:20. There are NO EARLY RELEASE DAYS in next year's calendar. There are however a number of professional days for which there will be no attendance for students. *Thank you in advance for taking time to review the calendar and make preparations in advance!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES LISTS

The list of school supplies for elementary students has been posted on the front doors of the school and is available on-line from the homepage of the school district website. Secondary students only need to have paper, pens and pencils for the first day. As students rotate through their schedule, they will be informed of specific supplies if needed.

BACK TO SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE EVENTS

There will be an open house event for students in grades preschool through third grade on Monday, August 30th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This is the day before school starts and is a wonderful opportunity to drop off supplies, meet teachers and check out the classrooms. This open house helps to insure a smooth first day of school and we encourage you to participate. *This is not a time for conferencing about specific concerns regarding your child. If you feel such a conference is needed, scheduling an appointment with your child's teacher will provide the private setting in which to accomplish that.

ADDITIONALLY the Genesee PTO will be providing popsicle treats to enjoy on the front lawn as you are leaving the open house. Information regarding membership with the PTO, and the wonderful events they sponsor will also be available. Please take a moment, and consider joining the Genesee PTO.

*The Open House for grades 4 through 12 will be held the evening of the first day of school, August 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

PLANT FACILITY ELECTION - TUESDAY, AUGUST 17th

REMINDER: The Plant Facility Election will be held on Tuesday, August 17th from noon to 8:00 p.m. Polling places include Genesee School and the Morscheck residence.

If you are currently without a class for a particular period and/or semester, you can discuss your options with Mr. Scripter at final registration.

5.) SENIORS: Shortly after the school year begins, usually in October, the representative from the company who prints our diplomas will be here to discuss graduation orders for caps and gowns, and announcements. *When this order is placed, usually just before Thanksgiving, is when the diploma order is also submitted, with your name as it will appear on your diploma. This name is an exact match to what is on your birth certificate, which we have on file in the office. IF you are planning to make a legal change to your name (i.e. spelling of first name, middle name, dropping a name, adding a last name, etc.), you will need to have the paperwork complete and turned in to the office PRIOR to the diploma order being submitted, otherwise your diploma will be printed to match your current legal birth certificate.
