Local Winner


Congratulations to 6th Grader Daphne Buckland for being the 6th grade winner in the State of Idaho Holiday Card Contest. Each student will receive a certificate of recognition. The winning entries are posted online at http://www.sde.idaho.gov/site/media_center/.


The Music Fundraiser Items Have Arrived! 


Please come see Ms. McMullin in the music room to retrieve your sales items and prizes!  4th-6th graders may retrieve their own items (and items for younger siblings), but 1st-3rd graders need to have a parent or older sibling with them.  Also, students with especially large orders may need to have another set of hands to carry everything home.

The Genesee Boosters will work the concession stand this Saturday, December 1st at our first girls and boys basketball quad game for the season! Please come and support our teams by eating a baked potato with all the fixings or a grilled hotdog & chili.  We will also have many other items for sale.  Our clothing table
will be set up for all of your Genesee Spirit Gear needs.  Please pick up existing orders or make new ones!  THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF OUR KIDS! 


Composting Project


The 7th grade class is designing a composting program for our school. Please help us by putting the correct materials in the green bins in the lunch room. Check the side of each bin for the daily compostable items. Thank you.


Book Sale


Need a gift for that hard-to-buy-for person?  Take a look at the books available through the Silent Auction this week at the City Library.  Final  bids will be accepted until 4:45 PM on Sunday, December 2, during the Civic Association’s Christmas Lighting.  All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Genesee Library.


Community is Invited


Genesee Civic Association is hosting the Annual Community Christmas Party and City Lighting Ceremony this Sunday, December 2nd from 4:00- 6:00 pm.  We will have a pizza dinner, crafts, games and pictures with Santa.  Then we will light up the town at 6:00 pm! We hope everyone can join us for an evening of community fun!


Junior High and High School News


Congratulations to the GB JV team who defeated Kamiah last night. Great effort by the Varsity team who played well, but lost.

Good luck to the Girls and Boys Basketball teams tomorrow. The girls start the day hosting Prairie beginning with 2 quarters of JV play at 1:00 followed by a full Varsity game. The boys then host Kendrick in their first game of the season beginning at 4:00.

There are treats in Mrs. Tilleman's room for the Boys and Girls Baketball teams.

There will be an FFA officer meeting at lunch today in the Ag. Shop. 

PLEASE HELP! We still need 20 people to sign up and help on Saturday at 9:00 for the Palouse Cares food drive. We need some kids to step up and help the community that has supported our school for so long. Please meet in the multipurpose room during activity period today.

Congratulations Michelle Moore! Michelle's artwork submission was selected for use at the 2013 conference "Possibilities for All Abilities."  Her artwork will be used as the primary logo for this conference (t-shirts, etc.)  A copy of Michelle's submission is on Mrs. Bardwell's bulletin board outside Room 210.

Conferences


Parent Teacher Conferences will be held today from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and tomorrow from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be no school on Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9. Parents of secondary students are invited and encouraged to arrange through email or by calling the school or stop by anytime during the scheduled times to conference with your child's teacher(s). Clothing Exchange


Please stop in after your conference to drop, swap or shop for free clothing items. Get rid of what you can't use and take home something you can. Exchange will be open Wednesday, November 7 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday, November 8 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please bring your CLEAN, GENTLY USED clothing items to the school. Winter items are greatly needed. Unclaimed items will be donated to a non-profit organization. Distinguished Young Women


The Distinguished Young Women (aka Junior Miss) committee will meet on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. Conferences


Parent Teacher Conferences will be held this Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be no school for students on Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9. Parents of secondary students are invited and encouraged to arrange through email or by calling the school or stop by anytime during the scheduled times to conference with your child's teacher(s). School will resume Monday, November 12.

Junior High and High School News


Congratulations to Hailey Johnson who attended the Idaho High School State swim meet this
weekend, Nov 2-3 in Boise.  She was the repeat 50 freestyle champ and she also won the 100 freestyle,  scoring enough points on her own to win the 3A-1A team championship for the Bulldogs.

Good luck to the JH VB teams as they host Potlatch tonight beginning at 5:30.

Boys Basketball Activity Period meeting will be TODAY at 9:40.

The HS Volleyball awards banquet will be held Monday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the multi purpose room. Seniors and Juniors bring a main dish, Sophomores bring a salad and Freshmen bring dessert.

Annual testing for IDFY ("P" and Pizza) will be Wednesday November 28 from 5:30 - 7:00. If you are a new IDFY member, get a registration form from Mrs. Sperber.

Girls Basketball: We will be having a parent & player meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. with a short( 45-60 min) light practice following. We must have a Parent meeting before our first practice and with the schedule being stacked with state, districts and JH sports this is the best possibility.

Performance


Take a break from studying or watching television to attend the lively eighth grade production of "After Hours" tonight.  This short one-act play begins at 7:00 and there's no charge for admission. Hope to see you there.



Professional Development Day


There will be no school for students Friday, October 26. School will resume as normal Monday, October 29 at 8:00 a.m.


Club Volleyball


There will be an informational Varnish Juniors Club Volleyball parent/player meeting in Mr. Crowley’s room at 7:00 pm on October 30.  If you have a daughter age 9-17 that may be interested in playing club volleyball for Genesee’s Club team, please come to the meeting.  An informational flyer will be available for all students from Mr. Crowley and you can contact him (pcrowley@sd282.org) if you have any questions.

Congratulations to the JH C and B VB teams who won in Troy last night and good effort by the A team who played well but were defeated.
