Softball Camp

Camp will be held Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 - 2:00 for boys and girls in grades 4 - 8 at the Genesee Baseball Field. There is still time to sign up! Forms are available in the HS Office and can be turned in through May 9.

Forms Due

 T-Ball and Pitching Machine forms are due at the end of this week to Tammy Stout via Makenzie in 3rd grade AND volunteer coaches are needed!! Questions email Tammy at dtstout@frontier.com.

Genesee High School Blood Drive

The blood drive will be held next Tuesday, May 13 from 1:00 - 4:15 at the school. Please call the HS Office at 285-1162 or log on to inbcsaves.org for an appointment.

Book Donations Accepted

Spring cleaning? No more room on those bookshelves? Friends of the Genesee Library are accepting donations for the Community Day Book Sale. Drop off donations at the library during regular hours: M & W 1pm-7pm, and Thurs 10am -4pm. Please, no water or food damaged items. All proceeds from the sale will be used to fund the New and Improved Summer Reading Program.

Community Day is June 14 this year and if you are interested in running in the Cow Creek Run, you can stop by the HS Office for a registration form. There is a 5 mile course as well as a 2 mile course and forms for early registration are due by May 20.

Community Day is June 14 this year and if you are interested in running in the Cow Creek Run, you can stop by the HS Office for a registration form. There is a 5 mile course as well as a 2 mile course and forms for early registration are due by May 20.

Book fair is cruising right along. Don't miss out! If you want a Minecraft book (the green one) you can pay for it now and I will put you on the order sheet. Genesee Civic Association’s Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 19th at the Upper City Park at 10 a.m. sharp.  Fifth grade and under are welcome to hunt.  There will be 3 areas laid out for 3 age groups.  Eggs will be filled with toys, candy and money.  Watch for the Golden eggs.  They will have a special treat.

Fourth through eighth grade students interested in softball camp to be held on Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. can still turn forms in to the HS office until Thursday, April 17. State SLC Results from last week: Lance - 1st place, SAE Project received $200 and qualified for Nationals; Mary Kate - 3rd place in Prepared Public Speaking and earned her State Degree; Natalie - earned her State Degree; Courtney - 2nd place SAE Project and earned her State Degree; Nutrients for Life Competition - 3rd place, $1000 prize for School Composting Program; Novice Parliamentary Procedure and Floriculture - good job!

JUNIORS: Tomorrow--Wednesday April 16th--you will all be taking the SAT or the COMPASS tests.  Please report to your usual first period class for attendance and lunch count.  Those of you who registered for the SAT should then report to Mrs. Booth's room.  All you need to bring with you to the SAT is two #2 pencils.  Those of you who plan to take the three parts of the COMPASS test
should report to the Library after attendance and lunch count.  COMPASS testers should bring a pencil and an outside reading book with them.  IMPORTANT:  COMPASS testers will also need their social security number as part of the process of setting up your information in the COMPASS testing system.  You will not be able to set up a personal profile to test without your social security number.

Recycling Project

Recycling Is Awesome

Recycling cans, aluminum, glass, and other materials is important for everyone to do because it keeps the environment healthy. The recycling center gets money if you and other people recycle things like plastic and cans. Americans throw away 25,000,000 plastic bottles every hour. Any kind of plastic takes 500 years to decompose. In 2009 Americans threw away almost 9 million tons of glass. That could fill enough tractor trailers from New York City to Los Angeles [and back]. If you recycle, my fourth grade class isn’t going to dig through the garbage which is disgusting. I think if you and other people recycle cans, plastic, glass, and other things it doesn’t take up space in the landfill so there is more room for houses. In 2009 Americans produced enough trash to circle the Earth 24 times. If you and everyone else recycle it could save the whole wide World.

Child Developmental Screening

The Genesee School District will be providing FREE developmental screening for children ages 0-3 and children ages 3-5 on tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Genesee School, 330 W. Ash Street, in room 217.  We will also be conducting preschool and kindergarten registration from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Kindergarten registration will be provided for students who are not currently attending pre-school this year.  Parents need to bring immunization records as well
as their child’s birth certificate. Call 285-1162 for an appointment.
