Elementary After School Program


There is no after school study hall today due to parent teacher conferences.

Mark your calendars for this year's Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program to be held March 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the multi purpose room. Participants this year are Mary Kate Myers, Mattie Pickard and Sammy Sperber. Ticket prices at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students with all proceeds going toward the scholarship money presented that evening.


Genesee Schools Spring Break


Spring Break for Genesee Schools is next week, March 31 - April 4. There will also be no school for students this Friday, March 28 which is reserved for parent teacher conferences from 8:00 - 12:00. We wish all students a safe and relaxing break! School will resume Monday, April 7 at 8:00 a.m.


Lost and Found Items


There are several clothing items on the lost and found table just outside the District Office which will be donated over Spring Break, so if you are missing something please check here. Parents, please look through these items when you are here for conferences as well. Thank you.


Child Developmental Screening


The Genesee School District will be providing FREE developmental screening for children ages 0-3 and children ages 3-5 on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Genesee School, 330 W. Ash Street, in room 217.  We will also be conducting preschool and kindergarten registration from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Kindergarten registration will be provided for students who are not currently attending pre-school this year.  Parents need to bring immunization records as well
as their child’s birth certificate. Call 285-1162 for an appointment.

Junior High boys and girls please turn your washed basketball uniforms in to Mr. Hanson today!

Good luck to the Softball team at their double header this evening beginning at 4:00 & 6:00 at Airport field #2 against Lewiston JV. Please release players at 2:20.

Good luck to the Baseball team as they travel to Kooskia for a game beginning at 5:00. Please release players at 1:55.

Jr High Girls:  Senior Fast Pitch Softball will have a meeting at the baseball field in the Grandstand on Wednesday, April 9th at 6:00 for parents and players, if you are interested in playing please attend.  You need to register at the Moscow Parks and Rec website by April 13th.

There are more than 40 brand new and new-to-us books in the library right now. Check them out. Lol. Just in time for spring break. Sign them up before Thursday so you can count them toward next quarter's reading goals. Look for them on top of the Non-Fiction shelves. Several Jodi Picoult's, Allegiant, several new series and additions to series we already have. Plus more: Dashner, Grisham, Orson Scott Card.

Congratulations to the JH Girls and Boys basketball teams who ended their seasons with wins over Troy last night. Junior High boys and girls please turn your washed uniforms in to Mr. Hanson by tomorrow 3/27.

Great effort by the Softball team who played a great game, but were defeated.

Great effort as well by the Baseball team who lost to Colton in a close game.

Activity period in Mr. Hanson's classroom today will be for HS boys interested in playing football next school year.

The first Mr. GHS practice is tonight at 6:30 in the multi purpose room.

Pitchfork Fondue


The Genesee FFA Alumni Association is sponsoring this steak dinner and dollar auction Saturday, March 22 at the Genesee Fire Hall. Social hour is from 4:30 - 5:30 with dinner to follow at 5:30 - 6:30. Dinner menu will be Steak, Salad, Roll, Dessert and 5 drinks per ticket. An auction and 50/50 raffle will begin at 6:30. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased from any Genesee FFA member, any FFA Alumni Member or by calling 285-1758. Any unsold tickets will be available at the door, limited to 200 guests. Please come join us for this fun event and support the Genesee FFA Chapter, Members and Agricultural Education.

The Genesee FFA Alumni Association is sponsoring this steak dinner and dollar auction Saturday, March 22 at the Genesee Fire Hall. Social hour is from 4:30 - 5:30 with dinner to follow at 5:30 - 6:30. Dinner menu will be Steak, Salad, Roll, Dessert and 5 drinks per ticket. An auction and 50/50 raffle will begin at 6:30. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased from any Genesee FFA member, any FFA Alumni Member or by calling 285-1758. Any unsold tickets will be available at the door, limited to 200 guests. Please come join us for this fun event and support the Genesee FFA Chapter, Members and Agricultural Education.

Mark your calendars for this year's Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program to be held March 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the multi purpose  room. Participants this year are Mary Kate Myers, Mattie Pickard and Sammy Sperber. Ticket prices at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students with all proceeds going toward the scholarship money presented that evening.

Softball registration is open online at the Moscow Parks website. The deadline is April 6 for junior players and April 13 for senior players. Congratulations to the Softball team on their win over CV last night.

Congratulations to the Baseball team who defeated Highland last night.

Congratulations to the JH Boys Basketball teams who defeated Deary last night.

Congratulations to the JH Girls A team on their win over Deary and great effort by the B team who lost by 2. 
There was a pair of shoes left on the Softball bus last night and a lunchbox left on the JH Basketball bus, please go to the lost and found table to retrieve.

Tomorrow night's baseball double header will be played at Clearwater Park in Lewiston.

Students interested in working concessions for Junior High Basketball games to earn money for IDFY Silverwood trip, please talk to Mr. Caldwell and let him know if you are available tomorrow evening, Friday 3/21 and/or next Tuesday 3/25. The games begin at 4:30, so concession helpers would need to be available at 3:45.

Civilian Conservation Corps Exhibit is at the Genesee Community Library


Public lecture & discussion on the CCC’s legacy by Dan Crandall will be on Thursday, March 13 th at 7 pm. One of the most popular New Deal programs, the CCC put three million young men to work in camps across America during the height of the Great Depression. One of those camps was in Genesee. See you at the Library!

Great action in Potlatch last night for the JH Basketball teams. The Girls B team lost in double overtime and the A team won. The Boys B team won and the A team lost in overtime. Way to go Bulldogs!

All-Star Basketball tonight at Booth Hall, girls will play at 6:00 followed by the boys at 8:00. Please come watch Reggie and Sam play for the North Teams.

Civilian Conservation Corps Exhibit is at the Genesee Community Library

Congratulations to Tia Valles (1st in Computer Modeling), Evan Drake (2nd in Computer Security and 3rd in Computer Network Technology), Sammy Sperber (3rd in Medical Office Procedures), and Sophie D-N (5th in Database Applications) for qualifying for Nationals at the State BPA Conference this weekend.  Great job to all of the BPA members.

Due to increasing food and supply costs, the prices have been raised to $20 for a large tray, and $15 for a small tray. Chicken and beef flavors are both still available.  Please give Virginia your orders or email them to her at kmonk@pea-lentil.com.

University of Idaho Jazz Concert


Genesee Junior High and High School Jazz Musicians and the Genesee Elementary Singers will perform tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Lionel Hampton School of Music on the University of Idaho Campus for the U of I Jazz Experience Concert. Three buses will transport musicians, equipment and community members and will leave the school at 6:00 p.m.

University of Idaho Jazz Concert


Genesee Junior High and High School Jazz Musicians and the Genesee Elementary Singers will perform next Monday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lionel Hampton School of Music on the University of Idaho Campus for the U of I Jazz Experience Concert. Three buses will transport musicians, equipment and community members and will leave the school at 6:00 p.m.


Bulldog Bingo


Bulldog Bingo: Saturday, March 15 in the Genesee School Multipurpose Room!   Dinner @ 5:30 p.m. ($5/Adults, $3/K-12, $15 max family cost) and Bingo starts @ 6:15 p.m.  ( $5 per card).  There will also be raffle items ($1 per ticket).  Support the local food bank, too! For every can of food brought, one ticket will be given for drawings of some fun door prizes! Sponsored by Genesee PTO.


Enchiladas For Sale


Virginia Monk is once again selling enchiladas for her Citizenship Washington Focus 4-H project. Orders must be in by March 9.  She will be making them March 15 and delivering that weekend. Due to increasing food and supply costs, the prices have been raised to $20 for a large tray, and $15 for a small tray. Chicken and beef flavors are both still available.  Please give Virginia your orders or email them to her at kmonk@pea-lentil.com


Jr. High/High School News


Congratulations to the Boys Basketball team on their win over Troy in the District Tournament last night. The Boys team now faces Lakeside of Plummer tomorrow night at St. Maries High School at 6:00. With a win tomorrow night, the team would earn a trip to the State Basketball Tournament next week.  Good luck Bulldogs!

FFA Officer meeting at lunch today. This is a mandatory meeting. bring your lunch or go get lunch and meet in the Ag Shop at 12:05: Tyler, Cierra, Cassidy, Lance, MaryKate, Mattie, and Rhett.

Regarding Spring Sports: GHS will offer three sports to student athletes. All eligible students are encouraged to get active and participate in a sport this spring!
