Last Day of School


The last day of school for Genesee students will be early release at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4.


Basketball Clinic Opportunity


Genesee High School Girls Basketball coach Brandon McIntosh will hold basketball clinics throughout the summer on Sunday evenings for all interested students in grades 3-8 for the 2014-2015 school year. Students in grades 3-5 will meet from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. and those in grades 6 - 8 will meet from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Watch for information to come home with students.


Community Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament


Anyone interested in playing in the Community Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, please stop by Mr. Crowley’s room or the office to get a sign up sheet.  Discounted registration before June 1!

Spring cleaning? No more room on those bookshelves? Friends of the Genesee Library are accepting donations for the Community Day Book Sale. Drop off donations at the library during regular hours: M & W 1pm-7pm, and Thurs 10am -4pm. Please, no water or food damaged items. All proceeds from the sale will be used to fund the New and Improved Summer Reading Program.

See Mary Kate Myers assume the leather-wearing big mama who wants her daughter Kamri Sams to be a star.

The following students will have a pizza party at lunch today from the last PRIDE Assembly in Mr. Derting's room: Hannah, Anna S., Chloe, Cierra M., Sara M., Tessa, Taitum, Danielle, Grace, Cameron Bain, Payton and Brooklyn.

It is that time of year when students interested in student government can apply for an office. Below are the requirements for an ASB position. Forms can be picked up in the office. If you have any questions please come see Mr. Caldwell.
Presidential candidates must be in their 6th semester (or be junior class members) to be
nominated.
Vice President must be at least in their 4th semester (or sophomore class members) to be nominated.
Chief Justice must be at least in their 4th semester (or sophomore class members) to be nominated.
Secretary must be at least in their 2nd semester (or freshman class members) to be nominated.
Treasurer must be at least in their 2nd semester (or freshman class members) to be nominated.
All ASB nominees must have at least a 3.0 GPA to accept a nomination. Ten signatures are required.  Signatures may come from 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students during the present school year.  (Seniors do not vote in the ASB election but they may sign candidate petitions). Petitions due in the office on MAY 23rd, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Community Day is June 14 this year and if you are interested in running in the Cow Creek Run, you can stop by the HS Office for a registration form. There is a 5 mile course as well as a 2 mile course and forms for early registration are due by Thursday 5/22 at 5:00 p.m. to Nyla at her house.

Grades 6-11 girls basketball open gym 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday.  If you are playing at LCSC June 6-8, please attend and bring a parent to sign the registration form. 6-7 graders, if there is enough interest, we could take a junior high team to LCSC June 6-8. Community Day is June 14 this year and if you are interested in running in the Cow Creek Run, you can stop by the HS Office for a registration form. There is a 5 mile course as well as a 2 mile course and forms for early registration are due by Thursday 5/22 at 5:00 p.m. to Nyla at her house.

It is that time of year when students interested in student government can apply for an office. Below are the requirements for an ASB position. Forms can be picked up in the office. If you have any questions please come see Mr. Caldwell.
Presidential candidates must be in their 6th semester (or be junior class members) to be
nominated.
Vice President must be at least in their 4th semester (or sophomore class members) to be nominated.
Chief Justice must be at least in their 4th semester (or sophomore class members) to be nominated.
Secretary must be at least in their 2nd semester (or freshman class members) to be nominated.
Treasurer must be at least in their 2nd semester (or freshman class members) to be nominated.
All ASB nominees must have at least a 3.0 GPA to accept a nomination. Ten signatures are required.  Signatures may come from 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students during the present school year.  (Seniors do not vote in the ASB election but they may sign candidate petitions). Petitions due in the office on MAY 23rd, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Students... here's something of special interest for all singers and musicians. The Palouse Project will be holding new auditions May 17th for singers and musicians of all talent levels. The Palouse Project just had their first public appearance at WSU in April and are now looking to expand their group. Of particular interest are a keyboard player, drummer, and lead male vocalist. Assembly This Morning


In conjunction with the Latah County Sheriff's Office and the Genesee Volunteer Fire Department, Genesee Junior and Senior High School students will participate in a mock DUI crash reenactment today.

Students... here's something of special interest for all singers and musicians. The Palouse Project will be holding new auditions May 17th for singers and musicians of all talent levels. The Palouse Project just had their first public appearance at WSU in April and are now looking to expand their group. Of particular interest are a keyboard player, drummer, and lead male vocalist. Community Day is June 14 this year and if you are interested in running in the Cow Creek Run, you can stop by the HS Office for a registration form. There is a 5 mile course as well as a 2 mile course and forms for early registration are due by May 20.

Congratulations to the Softball team on their first place finish in the District II 1A Softball Tournament. Good luck as they travel to Caldwell to compete in the State Tournament. Their first game will be against Notus on Friday at noon MDST at Quad Park (take the Franklin Road Exit off of I 84).

Congratulation to the Baseball team who finished second in the District II 1A Baseball tournament. Good luck as they compete in the State tournament in Lewiston. Their first game will be against Wilder at noon at Church Field.

Softball Camp


Camp will be held Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 - 2:00 for boys and girls in grades 4 - 8 at the Genesee Baseball Field. There is still time to sign up! Forms are available in the HS Office and can be turned in through May 9.


Forms Due


 T-Ball and Pitching Machine forms are due at the end of this week to Tammy Stout via Makenzie in 3rd grade AND volunteer coaches are needed!! Questions email Tammy at dtstout@frontier.com.


Genesee High School Blood Drive


The blood drive will be held next Tuesday, May 13 from 1:00 - 4:15 at the school. Please call the HS Office at 285-1162 or log on to inbcsaves.org for an appointment.


Book Donations Accepted


Spring cleaning? No more room on those bookshelves? Friends of the Genesee Library are accepting donations for the Community Day Book Sale. Drop off donations at the library during regular hours: M & W 1pm-7pm, and Thurs 10am -4pm. Please, no water or food damaged items. All proceeds from the sale will be used to fund the New and Improved Summer Reading Program.

Community Day is June 14 this year and if you are interested in running in the Cow Creek Run, you can stop by the HS Office for a registration form. There is a 5 mile course as well as a 2 mile course and forms for early registration are due by May 20.


Jr. High/High School News


Congratulations to the Softball team on their win over Highland last night. 

Good luck to the Softball team as they play Colton today beginning at 5:00 at Airport park. The bus will leave at 3:25.

Good luck to Sam O. who has a home lacrosse game in Moscow tonight at 6:00 at the Moscow soccer fields.

8th - 11th grade Boys Basketball players please meet with Coach Boyd today in the Gym Foyer for Activity Period.

7th - 12th class presidents, please turn in your class donation box for "One Dollar for Life" to Mr. Caldwell by the end of the day Thursday.

Senior class fundraiser: selling "No One Fights Alone" wrist bands for $3 each with all proceeds going to the Funke Family for medical expenses. Bands can be paid for in the HS office. Checks can be made out to Brian and Wendy Funke.  Bands will arrive May 6. Please contact Sydney Cornell with questions at 208-310-1027.

Staff Professional Development Day


There will be no school for students this Friday, May 2. School will resume Monday, May 5 at 8:00 a.m.

FFA Banquet is May 2 at 6:00 p.m.in the multi purpose room

Students who plan on taking Drivers Ed. and have gotten your permits, we will start classes on Monday, May 5 in Mr. Sams's classroom at 6:30 a.m. The $275 fee will be collected at that time as well.
